So, I need to get a mortgage. Where do I start?
Once you have decided to begin the home buying process, you will need to obtain a loan pre-approval letter from a mortgage company. Most importantly, you need to know how much you want to spend on a house. Also, home sellers want to know that you are qualified for a mortgage before they let you into their property to view it. Don’t stress, we can help. If you already have a bank in mind to help you with your home mortgage, great! If not, we can send you in the right direction. There are a ton of loan programs out there to fit your needs and budget. Our years of experience has taught us that the best mortgage lenders are local and have access to a number of loan programs versus only one or two cookie cutter programs. How long does this process take, anyway?
It depends. The process of searching for a home can take weeks or even months. The object is to find you the perfect home, in the best location, at the best price, within your desired time frame. We want to get it right. Sometimes it happens right away, sometimes it doesn’t. When you find your perfect home and your offer to purchase is accepted, the time to closing is usually about six weeks. Those six weeks will fly by as there are inspections, appraisals, possible additional negotiations and home repairs, loan conditions, packing, etc. to attend to. If you are selling a home too, the process usually takes a bit longer.
